2 Day Beginners Portrait Painting Workshop

Date – Sat 11th & Sun 12th Oct 2025

Time – 10am - 4 pm

Location – ‘Palais Des Vaches’ Gallery, Lower Exbury Farm, Inchmery Lane, Exbury, Southampton.

This workshop is an opportunity to work from photo reference to create a painting that over the course of the 2 days will develop from a drawing to a final piece. It is a tutored session with Stewart Beckett, Landscape and Portrait Painter. It will be a fun session for beginners working with Acrylics or Oils we will begin with a charcoal drawing before the painting is blocked in on the canvas. All materials are supplied you will only need to bring an Apron and a packed lunch.

The aims of the workshop:

• Develop an understanding of how a portrait is created
  
• Learn how to work with the paints.
• Develop and understand what makes an interesting composition
• To confidently progress the painting with helpful and supportive tuition.
• To feel more adapt at practicing on your own.

All Oil & Acrylic materials are included (as stated above other mediums can be used but not supplied).  Please bring a packed Lunch with you.

Coffee, Tea and Biscuits will be provided.

You are advised to wear old clothes or bring an apron to the session as it could get messy!
